Reproduction of images © from the Artists Rights Society (ARS) or VAGA is prohibited without the written permission of: The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) © is one of the world`s largest comprehensive art museums and one of the most important civic and cultural institutions in Northeast Ohio. Works in his collection include cultures, historical periods, artistic movements and styles. The services listed here are provided by the Cleveland Museum of Art with respect to images, metadata parts, and software relating to its collections, exhibitions, research, and provenance. Please note that permissions for images and data that are not open access with Creative Commons may need to be obtained from third party copyright holders. Certain works of art, as well as the images in such works, may be protected by copyright, trademark or related interests that do not belong to the CMA. The responsibility for determining whether such rights exist and for obtaining any other necessary authorization rests solely with the user, and CMA assumes no responsibility for obtaining such required rights. Open access images and data labeled Creative Commons Zero (CC0) may be used and modified free of charge for commercial and non-commercial purposes without the prior consent or permission of the CMA. Open access is defined by Creative Commons legal instruments and symbols associated with the work. Creative Commons helps organizations like the CMA legally share their knowledge and creativity to build a more accessible and innovative world.

For inquiries, please use the request form. Only the patient or his/her legal guardian can request delivery of the images. Images can be retrieved by the patient from the main campus location or sent to the location specified in the request. Although this is a non-circulating collection, copies of the images can be obtained for a fee. Please contact the photo collection for more information. The MyImages website is used by patients to request X-ray images from the image library on the Cleveland Clinic`s main campus. Biographical collection: Biographical photographs, sorted by name of the person represented and in the variety of world personalities to local celebrities. Stage and film actors appear in large numbers, as do statesmen and criminals. Backgrounds range from studio portraits of John D. Rockefeller to candid photographs of Eliot Ness to people from all walks of life.

Cleveland Photographs: A unique collection of photographs about the history of Cleveland. Themed areas include the Great Lakes Exposition, Cleveland National Air Races, as well as local schools, churches, industries, railroads, and streetcars, to name a few. Collection of themes: The images show the history and events of the 20th century, including the two world wars. Photos of places around the world include countries, cities, villages, rivers, and historical sites. Buzzwords range from abbeys, costumes and X-ray transports with a wide variety in between. Mears Collection: Historical photographs of baseball teams and players show the 1892 Cleveland Base Ball Club (Cleveland Spiders), the 1885 Chicago Base Ball, the 1901 Athletics, and the Cincinnati Red Stockings photographed by Mathew Brady in 1869. McMichael Collection: The photography collection began with a collection of 19th and early 20th century photographs, purchased by Stanley McMichael in 1929. The McMichael Collection features important Cleveland landmarks and is divided into thematic categories such as bridges, buildings, canals, churches, docks, etc. Notable photographers: The collection includes photographs of Otis Steel Mill by Margaret Bourke-White. Also featured are professional portrait photographers George Edmondson and Ethel Standiford, Clevelander photographers Jasper Wood, who photographed Cleveland`s Scovill neighborhood, George Ketteringham, a ubiquitous amateur photographer of the early 20th century. Arthur Gray, who photographed the Flats, downtown and Cleveland`s skyline in the 1930s, and Andrew Borowiec, whose photographs of the 21st century Flats were taken in 2002-2003, are also depicted.

Theatre Collection: A collection of business cards and cabinet cards. The dominant form of portrait from the mid-1850s to the 1860s usually depicted the model in a head-shoulder composition. The processes have allowed photographers to mass produce portraits of theatrical celebrities. Walker & Weeks Collection: Architectural photographs of local landmarks designed by this major firm include images of the main building of the Cleveland Public Library, the Public Auditorium, and the Cleveland Municipal Stadium. If you request a copy of the X-ray images, it may take you 48 hours to process a request for X-ray imaging. All CDs or DVDs are shipped by UPS, with the exception of U.S. mailboxes that use the U.S. Postal Service. Images of artwork that are not available with CC0 can be requested through Image and Data Services.

To request a digital image, please first search online for the item in the CMA collections. Existing digital images are provided for a $75 processing fee. Images that require new photos or other content requests may incur additional charges. Anyone wishing to use copyrighted, owned or otherwise restricted images and material must seek and obtain prior written permission from the CMA. The CMA reviews all written requests and approval may be granted on a case-by-case basis at the CMA`s sole discretion. Requests for images that are not open access with Creative Commons must be submitted via the Imaging Services Request Form. The image library contains most of the radiological images created at the Cleveland Clinic. The images and portions of metadata offered with CC0 are available on the CMA website, its subdomains, including through an application programming interface (API) and GitHub repository, as well as third-party applications. Data from the GitHub repository is stored. CSV and JSON formats. CMA does not guarantee the availability of the Service or the accuracy of the Content, nor does it provide technical support in connection with the CMA API.
