The most common English qualifications and their entry requirements are as follows. As a qualifying law degree, the LLB (Honours) Act meets the requirements of the Mauritius Bar Association, the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority and the UK Bar Standards Board for the academic phase of training. After successfully completing the LLB, you can complete the second (or “professional”) level of professional training for notaries, lawyers and lawyers. The Law Thesis is an option that you may consider as one of your LLB modules, depending on the structure of the university`s legal module. When you study an LLB at Middlesex University in Mauritius, you gain the legal skills and abilities to complete the academic phase of training, and with your qualification, you begin the next level of professional training to become a notary, lawyer/lawyer or fully qualified lawyer. This module aims to provide you with knowledge and understanding of the principles of international law. You will develop your ability to assess and analyse legal issues in an international context, often dealing with current concerns. This may include debates about the legality of the use of armed force, environmental protection or the extent of individual responsibility for war crimes. If you do not have any of the alternative English qualifications listed above, we offer the Law University (ULET) English Test to meet your English language requirements. The LLB combines the “Fundamentals of Legal Knowledge”, a requirement of legal professional associations to complete the first or academic level of legal professional education, with optional modules that examine other specific areas of expertise in the field of law. The seven “foundations of legal knowledge” are public law, contract law, tort law, EU law, criminal law, equity and trusts, and land law.
These form the core modules of your LLB as a qualifying law degree. In addition, you choose from a variety of elective modules that allow you to study specialist areas of legal practice. If you have any questions, please email our hosting team. The Faculty of Law offers scholarships to a number of students each year, which currently range from £1,000 to £14,000 per year.
